Grain Output Reached 29.41 Million Ton in Heilongjiang
The investigation undertaking by the Heilongjiang Provincial Agricultural Survey Team in 25 Counties, 359 villages, 3388 areas and 23929 samples showed that in the year of 2002, the total output of grain was 29.41 million tons in Heilongjiang province, increased 2.90 million tons, 10.9% over that of last year. Of which, the corn output was 10.71 million tons, 2.51 million tons more than that of last year, an increase of 30.6%. The total output of soybean was 5.56 million tons, increased 601 thousand tons, and 12.9% over that of last year; the rice output was 9.21 million tons, decreased 953 thousand tons than last year, an decrease of 9.4%; The total output of wheat was 894 thousand tons, 44 thousand tons lower than that of last year, an decrease of 4.7%. For the tuber products, the output was 1.35 million tons, 117 thousand higher than that of last year, an increase of 9.5%.
Price of Peanut Oil Increasing in Weihai
Since Mid-December, the price of peanut oil has been continuously increasing in Weihai Grain and Oil Wholesale Market of Shandong Province. For grade 2 peanuts, the prices for the factory, wholesale and retailed were 8200RMB/ton, 8600RMB/ton and 9200RMB/ton, respectively, increased 2.4%, 3.5% and 2.2% over that of early December and 26.8%, 26.7% and 23.9% higher than that of last year, being the highest point in recent three years.
The main reasons for the price rising was that the increasing of raw materials lead the oil price going up. With price of peanut increasing, the price of raw materials was increased to 3500RMB/ton, 4.3% higher than that of early December and 28.6% than that of last year. The another reason is that there is an increasing demand for the oil in the period of the Chinese Spring Festival. It is estimated that the price of peanut oil will remain at the present level until the end of the Spring Festival.
Soybean Import License will be Issued
The report from China National Grain and Oil Information Center showed that, China Quality Inspection Bureau permited the import of GMO soybean and the shipment arrives to China after December 20, 2002. The new management temporary measures will be applied. The new measures stipulated that the temporary safe certificate could be used only once. The importation of soybean needs to must have the import certificate.
MOA will Invest 170 million RMB on High Oil Yield Soybean Production
Based on the Xinhua News, the Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) has decided to invest 170 million RMB to support the ¡°High Oil Yield Soybean Production Project¡± in Heilongjiang Province. In 2003, the total acreage of high oil yield soybean will be 10 million mu (15 mu = 1 ha.). This project will be implemented in about 60 counties in the province. It is planned that Heilongjiang will set up a major high oil yield soybean production base (non-GMO) in three years.
Soybean Meal Prices Decreased
December 22. The market price of soybean meal has been continually decreasing recently. The average price of soybean meal in Heilongjiang and Inner Mongolia is 1940-1980 RMB per metric ton, decreased about 30 RMB per metric ton from 2-3 weeks ago. The average price in Beijing and Tianjin is 2160-2220 RMB per metric ton, decreased 20 RMB per metric ton. The price in Henan and Shandong is about 2220-2280 RMB per metric ton, reduced about 20-40 RMB per metric ton.
