Marketing Survey of Oil Crops
Soybean and Its Production
In the period after the Chinese Spring Festival, the domestic soybean inventory was not too much. In Heilongjiang and Inner Mongolia, the soybean used for crushing oil was only 1.3-1.4 million tons left, of which half of that was still in the farmers¡¯ storage.
After mid-term of January, the price for the edible oil began to drop. In late January in Shandong, the price of grade 2 soybean oil was 5850-5880 RMB/tons, the price of soybean salad oil was 6100-6140 RMB/ton. In Eastern China, the price of imported soybean oil was 5700-5730 RMB/ton and the soybean salad oil was 6100-6140 RMB/ton.
In South China, the price of soybean meal slightly decreased, the price was 2060-2080 RMB/ton in late February.
Rapeseed oil and Its Production
The price of rapeseeds has been growing in Jiujiang of Jiangxi province. The total production of rapeseeds increased in 2002. At present, the price for the grade 2 rapeseed oil is 6050 RMB/ton.
In late February 2003, the price of rapeseed meal remained stable in a large part of China. In Nantong of Jiangsu province, the price of rapeseed meal was 1030 RMB/ton, in Shanghai, it was 1030-1050 RMB/ton, in Ningbo, the price was 1050-1070 RMB/ton and 1050-1060 RMB/ton in Jiujiang of Jiangxi province, and it was 1160-1170 RMB/ton in Guangdong. With the increase of feed uses, the price of rapeseed meal is going up.
Cottonseed and Its Production
At present in Dezhou of Shandong province, the storage of cottonseed oil and cottonseed meal are not very much. The price of grade 2 cottonseed oil has slightly increased to 5600 RMB/ton from the price during the Spring Festival. The price of cottonseed meal was remained at 1160-1170 RMB/ton. In Feshan of Guangdong Province, the price was remained 1250RMB/ton.
Palm oil
In Tianjin Port, the palm of 24 degree was 5080RMB/ton in late February 2003 and the daily trade volume was 500 tons. By the end of February, there was a large amount of palm oil imported in Tianjin Port, pulsing the storage of 20 thousand tons, the present storage of palm oil is 35 thousand tons, which will bring great pressure for the price.
In Lianyungang Port, the price for 24 degree palm oil wsa 5010-5050RMB/ton and there is only 5-6 thousand tons storage. The storage in Zhangjiagang Port was above 5000 tons with the price of 5010-5030RMB/ton. In Guangzhou, the price has a little increase of 5000RMB/ton for the 24 degree palm oil and the daily trade volume was 500 tons. By the end of February, the storage was more than 50 thousand tons.
New Policy on Soybean Import
March 8. According to the information from the National Quality Inspection Bureau, China will allow the import agent to import soybean as soon as they receive the quality inspection permission. By doing so the import soybean would not need to wait before unloading. Before the new policy was issued the quality inspection permission had to wiat for about 30 days to be effective.
