16 million mu of Organic Food Planning to Plant

Heilongjiang is China¡¯s largest organic food production base. In this year, it will continuously enlarge the planting of organic food. According to the project, the sowing area of organic food will be 16 million mu in this year, 148 mu more than last year.

In recent years, with the aid of the unique natural resources and the large demand on the food from the domestic and international market, Heilongjiang province get great development in the food industry, ranking top in China for the certificate of organic food, sowing area and output. At present, it has developed varieties products like grain, oil, milk, meat, eggs, beer and drinks.

It is estimated that in this year, the output of organic food is expected to reach 7 million mu, 1 million more than that of last year with the value increasing 19 hundred million RMB to reach 169 hundred million RMB.

 

Sowing Area of Oil Crops Continuously Going up in Henan

In recent 5 years, the production of oil crops developed very quickly in Henan Province with the sowing area increased from 18.13 million mu in 1997 to 23.06 million mu in 2002, increased 27.2%. The output is also increasing very quickly, in the year 1998, it is 3 million tons and exceeded 4 million tons in 2002, 52.1% over that of 1997. With the development of sowing area and output, the planting structure is also improved. In 2002, the area of peanut with high content of oil and protein was 1.5 million mu; the high quality sesame was 1.8 million mu.
