Acceleration on China¡¯s Soybean Import Permission
The latest report from China National Grain and Oil Information Center (CNGOIC) showed that, China Quality Supervision and Inspection General Bureau (CQSIGB) has accelerate the issue for the import permission of gene-transfer soybean, before that this work has been processing very slowly. In this week, the certificate for the permission of soybean import was obviously increased. The Certificate for the import of gene-transfer soybean is a key document for the Chinese importers.
The Ministry of Agriculture of P. R. China (MOA) has issued the Temporary Safe certificate for Brazil to permit the soybean import. Until now, China has ordered soybean for 17 million tons from the United States and South American countries. But the CQSIGB has restricted the issue of certificate to avoid the soybean supply excessive.
The latest statistics from the Ministry of America indicated that, from September 2002 until August 2003, China has ordered soybean from America for 7.3 million tons, increased 73.37% annually. By March 13, 2003, the loading to China ahs reached 6.68 million tons, increased 58.60% than that of last year.
Statistics provided by the Customs General Administration of China showed that, the estimation of soybean import will be 731 thousand tons in February 20023, an increase of 55%. Between January and February 2003, China¡¯s total soybean import was 2 million tons, 91.1% increased annually.
As estimated, between September 2002 and October 2003, China¡¯s total soybean import will reach 16.5 million tons.
