The Grain Prices are Increasing



In October the market prices of grain and edible oils continually increased. The market price of oil and feed increased firstly mainly due to the price increases of soybean and soybean meals; then the market prices of major crops such as wheat, rice and corn increased.

The followings were the price changes for different grains and oil in October in Nanchang of Jiangxi Province:

Rice-in late October the market price of rice was 1800 RMB yuan per ton, increased 26% from late September 2003;

Corn- late October the market price of corn was 1450 RMB yuan per ton, increased 18% from late September 2003;

Wheat- in late October the market price of wheat was 1530 RMB yuan per ton, increased 31% from October 2002;

Soybean ¨C in late October the market price of soybean was 3500 RMB yuan per ton, increased 20% from early September 2003;

Oil- in late October the market price of rapeseed oils was 7200 RMB yuan per ton, increased 21% from early September 2003.
