Gansu Becomes the Largest Alfalfa Producer in China
According to the information from the Gansu Provincial Development and Planning Commission, the total planting areas of alfalfa in the province has been 5.484 million mu (15 mu = 1 ha.), which accounts 34.3% of the total alfalfa planting areas in China.
The alfalfa production has also enhanced the alfalfa processing industry. It is expected that alfalfa production and processing will become a new industry in the province.
Ningxia Forage Grass Goes to International Market
Recently, 300 tons of forage grass exported to Korea from a seed company in Gu Yuan County of Ningxia Province. It is the first time that the forage grass produced in Ningxia Province exported to the international market.
At the present, Ningxia Province planted high quality alfalfa of more than 1.5 million mu and the annual output of high quality forage grass of 2 million mu. Several forage grass processing enterprises have been set up such as Yan Chi Lu Hai Company, Helanshan Mao Sheng Grass Co Ltd and Guyuan Jin Quan Co. Ltd.. In recent years, these enterprises imported advanced equipments for the processing of grass with the annual processing of grass with 300 thousand mu, and the annual production value is about 200 million RMB.
