Corn Seed Breeding Base in Yulin Gets National Authority
At present, the National Seeds Breeding Project in Yulin City, Shaanxi Province has been approved and since then, Yulin City has been formally listed as a national corn seeds breeding base.
Yulin is located in the north of Shaanxi Province and it has superiorities in seeding, irrigation and breeding. In 2002, more than 120 thousand mu in the 7 counties and 26 towns in Yulin City were planted to hybrid corn. In August 2002, the China Corn Seeds Breeding Demonstration was held in Yulin and the specialists give a high appraisal to the corn seeds breeding base in Yulin.
China and Canada Cooperate for High Grade Beef Market
Recently, a Sino-Canadian cooperative project was signed between China Animal Import and Export Corp., Henan Zhong Yuan Xiang Ji Group and the Canadian Government. This project aims to set up a high grade beef industrial demonstration zone using the technology of embryo transfer. The Canadian Minister of Agriculture attended and signed the contract.
During this project, 2000 Red Angus embryos, 150 cows, 10 bulls, 3000 recipients and forage seeds will be imported from Canada. In the meantime, the Canadian government will support this project with technology, management system and training programme. The total investment is 147.39 million RMB. The project is considered important by the Henan government.
