Shanxi Dairy Industry Gets Government Support
From 2003, the Chinese Government will make great efforts to support the dairy industry in Shanxi Province. The quality of milk will be guaranteed for the consumers.
From 2003 to 2007, the Chinese government will concentrate support in 80 counties in 7 provinces throughout China. A Dairy Testing Center is planned for Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province, to guarantee the quality of milk.
At present, Taiyuan is behind in the construction of dairy cattle breeding zones, and hasn¡¯t a consolidated milking station. The milk processing enterprises lack credibility and can not guarantee quality. The government support is to set up a modern milking station and a production line of pasteurized milk, improving the quality and sanitation standard of the milk, to ensure the customers are drinking safe milk.
Famous Brand Poultry Meat Meet Russia Demand
In 2002, the export of poultry meat increased dramatically in Suifen Port of Heilongjiang Province. There are altogether 115 shipments exported in the whole year with the total volume of 2596 tons, and a value of 22.7 million USD.
Three changes are described in the poultry export in 2002. First is the large volume, the total amount was 2596 tons, increased 10 times over that of last year, setting a record. Second are the increased varieties. Previously chicken carcasses were exported, now it has extended to frozen duck, frozen goose etc. The third is the improved products grade and quality. Most exports are Chinese famous brand products, including the chicken from Heilongjiang Zheng Da Company, the ¡°Hua Ying¡± duck from Henan Xinyang and frozen duck from Inner Mongolia Sai Fei Ya Company.
Expert analysis suggests that the main reasons to bring on these changes is that firstly, the economy in Russia has smoothly improved in the last 2 years and the people¡¯s income is also increasing, which allows people to attach importance to the quality and sanitation not just the price. Secondly, since the mid 1990¡¯s, the enlarging export has been required to meet the market demand. In Russia, 50% of required food must be imported from other countires. So the high quality poultry export to Russia is meeting the Russian market demand.
Per Capita Consumption of Dairy Products Increase
China¡¯s annual per capita consumption of dairy products will exceed 10 kg in 2002, 3 years ahead of the target set by the Ministry of Agriculture.
By September 2002, the total dairy output was 8.9 million tons, 32.4% higher than that of 2001. As estimated, the total dairy output in 2002 will reach 13.18 million tons, of which milk will be 11.84 million tons, while the per capita consumption of dairy products will be 10.2 kg.
Price of Soybean Meal Will not Drop
In Jiangsu market, the price of soybean meal dropped 200 RMB per ton recently. The price has dropped from 2100 RMB/ton to the current 1900 RMB/ton. While in northern and southern China, the supply of soybeans can not meet the demand in the processing enterprises, so the price will not drop in the near future. In Dalian and Shandong, the price was between 1980 RMB/ton and 2000 RMB/ton. In Heilongjiang, the price was 1920-1950 RMB/ton and 2130-2150 RMB/ton in Guangdong.
