Corn Marketing Demand Increased in China

1. Demand on feed industry

With the Spring coming, the demand on corn has been gradually increasing in the domestic market, especially in Guangdong, Fujian, Jiangsu and Zhejiang. In this year, the corn output reduced in Middle China. Shandong and Hebei has turned from the corn supplier to the purchaser from Northeast China. The corn demand in Shandong is above 15 million tons.

2. Demand on deep processing

In recent years, the development of corn deep processing industry lead the demand of corn increased greatly. In 2003, the consumption of corn used in fuel will exceed 2 million ton in Jilin Province, accounting for 1/8 of its total corn output.

3. Export demand

Since 2003, the demand on China¡¯s corn export increased and also the price is going up. In January and February, China exported corn for 2.34 million tons, 1.34 times of that of last year. As estimated, the monthly average of corn export will be 1 million tons above.

With the increasing of export, the price is also going up. At present, the export price is FOB 107-110USD/ton.
