Abundant in land resources, Changchun, capital city of northeast China's Jilin province, has carried out a series of programmes aimed at promoting the modernization of agriculture.
A number of key farm product process enterprises have been established, Dacheng Group is one of the leading companies among them.
The Dacheng Group, a joint venture with Taiwan and Hongkong, ranks first in Asia, and third in the world, for its processing ability of 2.4 million tons of corn a year.
The group has established the world's first polyol production line with domestic independent intellectual property rights. The production line was put into operation in September 2004.
The group was approved by the National Development and Reform Commission to become one of the three State-level model enterprises in corn chemicals.
A State-level corn research and development centre has been set up in the group.
A number of experts are actively engaged in research and development in the industry, in an effort to pursue independent innovation.
Up to now, they have succeeded in researching and developing some 100 chemical products with high added-value.
Last year, the output value of the group hit 11 billion yuan (US$1.37 billion), with its profit up to 1 billion yuan (US$124.4 million).
