The National ^Harvest Program ̄ 1999 for Crop Production and Agricultural Mechanization (July 15, 1999)

 

The national ^Harvest Program ̄ covers all kinds of new technology that is promoted and financially supported by the Ministry of Agriculture for several years.  The objective of the "Harvest Programs" is to extend these selected new technologies in agriculture industry to improve the industry efficiency. In other words, the Chinese government selects these areas as its priorities and put in its money in.   

The Harvest Program for the crop production and agricultural mechanization in 1999 covers the following sub-programs:  

A.       Crop Production

Rice:

        the extension of fine-quality early indica rice varieties in South China;

        the extension of fine-quality japonica rice varieties;

        the extension of the technology of raising rice seedlings in dry land;

        the technologies of rice seedling broadcasting;

        the demonstration and extension of double-fine-quality, double-rice seedling broadcasting technology with a yield of 1000 kg.  

Wheat:

        the extension of fine-quality, high-yield wheat varieties;

        the technology of precision and semi-precision sowing of high-yield wheat;

        the technology of plastic film mulching in wheat cultivation;

        the extension of high-yield wheat cultivation using furrowing technology,

        plastic film mulching and furrow-sowing in Weibei Plateau of Shaanxi province;

        the technology of wheat insect and disease control;

        the extension of the spring-wheat production pattern of two-high, one-fine-quality and nine-three in the Songhuajiang and Nenjiang Plains of Helongjiang province.  

Corn:

        The technology of corn seed-coating and yield increase.

        The extension of high yield, fine quality corn varieties;

        The extension of the cultivation technology of high yield, fine quality and new summer corn varieties,

        ^Zhongxia No. 2 ̄, which is high yield, fine quality and disease resistant;

        The technology of integrated high yield, high efficiency corn cultivation;

        The multiplication and extension of ^Chengdan No. 19 ̄, ^Chuandan No. 14 ̄ and other new corn varieties in South China;

        The extension of the technology of integrated yield increase of high quality corn varieties;

        The technology of field mulching with plastic film for high-yield corn cultivation;

        The application of corn seed coating and integrated high-yield technology in the Xingjiang Production and Construction Group of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.  

Rapeseed:

        The extension of low linoleic acid and low erucic acid (double-low canolas) rapeseed varieties;

        The introduction and extension of quality spring rapeseed varieties and their integrated yield increase cultivation technology.  

Soybeans:

        The extension of quality winter soybean varieties and their high yield cultivation technology;

        The technology of integrated mechanized soybean cultivation.  

Peanuts:  The plastic film mulching technology for peanut cultivation technology.  

Sweet Potatoes:

        The extension of high yield, high quality sweet potato varieties;

        The de-toxifying technology for seed sweet potato;

        The extension of quality sweet potato varieties in Shiqian County of Guizhou Province. 

Farmland:

        The technology of rodent control in agricultural land and grassland;

        The technology of water conservation and soil moisture preservation in dry land. 

B.       Agricultural Mechanization

        The technology of mechanized water conservation and soil moisture preservation for dry land;

        The technology of drought-resistant water retention, seedling preservation and yield increase of mechanized engineering in cornfields;

        The technology of mechanized light-type cultivation of paddy rice;

        The technology of high-speed paddy field plowing mechanization and paddy rice plant protection mechanization;

        The yield increase technology of mechanized plastic film mulching for wheat cultivation;

        The technology of corn mechanized harvesting;

        The technology of mechanized fertilizer application;

The technology of mechanized harvesting for 20 thousand ha of cornfields.
